Delete your account

You can do this yourself, immediately. No committee approves it, there is no waiting period, and nobody asks you why.

From inside the app

Open Parisar.
Go to the Me tab.
Tap Delete your account.
Confirm. It is applied straight away, and you are signed out on every device.

If you no longer have the app

If you have uninstalled Parisar, changed your phone, or cannot sign in, email grievance@parisar.app from the address or with the phone number attached to your account, and ask for it to be deleted. We will verify that the account is yours and then delete it. We do not require you to reinstall the app.

What is deleted

Your phone number and email address, and any other way of identifying you.
Your devices and sessions, revoked immediately, with push tokens cleared, so nothing can reach your phone afterwards.
Your password, made permanently unusable.
Your name, replaced with a tombstone.
Your notification preferences and household declarations.
Your memberships of every society, ended.

What stays, and why

We will not pretend this is a total erasure, because it is not, and the reason matters.

Parisar keeps a tamper-evident record of things done at the gate — who was let in, when, and by whom. That record is what protects everybody in a building, and it is also what protects you if something is ever done to your home in your absence. Each entry is cryptographically linked to the one before it, so removing a row from the middle would destroy the integrity of everybody else's record too.

So the record stays and your identity leaves it. Afterwards a gate log still shows that somebody approved a visitor at 19:04. It no longer shows that it was you.

Anything a law requires us to keep — financial records, for example — is retained only for as long as that law requires, and is listed to you explicitly with its end date rather than kept quietly. There are no such records for a resident account today.

Your society may separately hold its own records as the Data Fiduciary. Its retention limits are on the privacy page.

Before you go

You can export everything we hold about you from inside the app first. Do that before deleting if you want a copy — once the account is deleted we can no longer identify which records were yours, which is the whole point.
